Ms. Abbruzzese began her government career in 1992 as a Department of Army Intern Contract Specialist in the CECOM Acquisition Center at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.

Between 1994 through 2007, Ms. Abbruzzese held a variety of positions with the CECOM Acquisition Center to include Contracting Officer and Procurement Analyst.

In 2007, Ms. Abbruzzese assumed responsibility of the E-tools and Initiatives Group within the CECOM Acquisition Center as a Supervisory Procurement Analyst. While Group Chief, several of the tools she was responsible for were selected to be enterprise level tools within the Army Contracting Command.

In 2008, Ms. Abbruzzese assumed responsibility of the Communications-Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center Group within Division C of the CECOM Acquisition Center. In this role, she was the first manager on the ground for the Center to establish the CECOM Acquisition Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

In 2009, Ms. Abbruzzese assumed the role of Chief of Sector B within the CECOM Acquisition Center. Her sector provided the contractual support to PEO C3T, CECOM Logistics Readiness Center as well as the CECOM G3/5. This support included several major programs; Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T), Common Hardware Software (CHS), Blue Force Tracking (BFT), Command Post of the Future (CPOF) and the Army Mitre Program.

In 2012, Ms. Abbruzzese assumed the role of Chief of the Edgewood Contracting Division, Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground. Her division provided support to the Joint Program Executive Office Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO CBRND), U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (CCDC Chemical Biological Center), U.S. Army Chemical Material Activity (CMA), U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) and Program Executive Office Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (PEO ACWA). This support included actions in support of Operation Warp Speed and response to COVID-19.

From October 2018-January 2019, Ms. Abbruzzese was acting deputy director Army Contracting Command Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) during a developmental assignment.

In July 2020, Ms. Abbruzzese assumed the role of Mission Support Director of Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC APG). In this role, she is responsible for the staff functions (G staff) of ACC-APG.

From July 2022-Nov 2022, Ms. Abbruzzese was acting deputy director Army Contracting Command Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG).
