"Dr. Therese West serves as the Combat Casualty Care (CCC) Portfolio Manager within the Science & Technology (S&T) Portfolio Management Branch, S&T Enterprise Integration Division, Research and Engineering Directorate of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). In this role she develops and implements strategies and investment plans, aiming to deliver capabilities to the warfighter on prioritized and validated Joint requirements and gaps related to CCC – optimization of survival and recovery in battlefield injured service members through requirements driven, innovative research across the echelons of care including prehospital care, from triage to damage control surgery, prolonged care and autonomous care and evacuation.

Prior to her current role, Dr. West served as the Civilian Deputy Director for the DHA and Army CCC Research Programs at the US Army Medical Research Development Command (MRDC). Dr. West is a Doctorate prepared, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with over two decades of clinical, academic, and research experience. In addition to being a Licensed Health Care provider, Dr. West has been a Clinician and Educator in the Civilian health care sector for over 20 years. Her training also includes certification as a DoD Acquisitions Practitioner in Engineering and Technology Management and Program Management.

As a subject matter expert and senior program representative, Dr. West has supported the Combat Casualty Care Community nationally and internationally for over 12 years."
